AssistAWS is a non-profit dedicated to rescuing animals in Saint Lucia, and they host an annual clinic focused on spaying and neutering pets. This event is crucial in controlling the number of dogs on the island. Despite the challenges, the team of veterinarians and volunteers find fulfillment in knowing they are making a difference in the lives of dogs in distress. Their dedication was evident when they went above and beyond to provide care for a group of puppies in urgent need. The team’s efforts truly make a difference in the welfare of animals on the island.
On the third day of the clinic in Saint Lucia, the staff had another hectic day on their hands. As they wrapped up their work for the day, they were relieved to be able to go home. However, their plans were put on hold when they stumbled upon a delightful surprise – five precious little puppies curled up inside a small cardboard box.
Despite Charlene’s many experiences with dogs in tough situations, she can’t help but feel a pang in her heart every time. It’s always hard to see those weary and frightened eyes staring back at her.
Upon their arrival at the shelter, the rescue team wasted no time in bringing the puppies in for a detailed check-up. Even with the excellent care they were receiving, the puppies still needed some time to adjust to their unfamiliar surroundings.
Initially, the group was feeling apprehensive, which is a typical reaction. However, it didn’t take them much time to understand that they had found a sanctuary where they would receive care and affection. Following their medical check-up, the little group was warmly welcomed to make themselves at home at the shelter.
While the siblings enjoy each other’s company, they were eager to be adopted into a loving forever home. As they left the shelter one by one, the staff were reminded of the fulfilling nature of their work. A big thank you to HelpAWS and all those involved in animal rescue for their tireless efforts in helping these little dogs in need, even when they were exhausted themselves.
