Woman’s Journey of Feline Adoption: From Kitten Plans to Falling for a 10-Year-Old Cat

Woman Decides To Adopt A Kitten But Ends Up Falling In Love With A 10-Year-Old Cat Instead

During my time working at the shelter, I’ve encountered various individuals looking to adopt pets. Interestingly, many come in with a specific idea in mind but end up choosing a different furry friend altogether. Plans don’t always go as expected, but one thing is certain – those who adopt from shelters bring immense joy to their new animal companions!

Take Jamie, for example. She set off to the shelter aiming to bring home a young kitten that could join her two dogs. However, fate had a different plan in store. Instead of a 10-month-old kitten, Jamie found herself falling in love with a 10-year-old cat named Millie. And just like that, Millie became the newest member of Jamie’s family.

One ordinary day, Jamie decided to swing by the local shelter after work with the intention of adopting a kitten around six months to two years old.
When she entered the community room, one particular cat caught her eye – Millie, a 10-year-old feline sitting by the door and gazing at everyone. Millie approached Jamie, who sat down and the adorable cat followed suit. In that moment, Jamie knew she had found her perfect companion and adopted Millie without hesitation.

I mean, who wouldn’t fall in love with that adorable face?
Millie is full of chatter and has settled in perfectly with her new family, getting along great with her two doggy pals.

Jamie is the proud owner of two furry companions, Titan and Yogurt. According to Jamie and their adorable Instagram posts, it’s clear that the two dogs have a great bond and get along famously.

When I first brought Millie home, I was careful not to let Yogi, my other pet, overwhelm her. I decided to keep Millie in the bathroom with a baby gate to help her get used to her new surroundings. After four days, I left the house for a while. When I returned, I was surprised to see that Millie had somehow managed to break free from the baby gate, and both her and Yogi were peacefully snuggled up together on the bed. It was a heartwarming moment that made me realize they were going to get along just fine.

It seems like these two pets definitely get along! Jamie uses a pet monitoring camera to keep an eye on them while she’s away, and it’s heartwarming to see them lounging on the couch or having fun together.

Jamie mentioned that Millie didn’t seem too thrilled when she arrived at her new home, but despite her initial expression, it’s clear from her actions that she is actually enjoying herself.

“She’s a pretty laid-back cat. I think I’ve only heard her hiss once.”

In addition to her easygoing nature, Millie has had some health problems that Jamie has been addressing. When she was first brought to the shelter, they had to do some dental work on her, including removing six teeth. They also had to extract one of her canine teeth, which is why her lip sometimes gets caught.

Millie, who also suffers from asthma and a deformed rib, has seen a significant improvement in her health and happiness since being adopted by Jamie. After four years in her new home, she appears to be thriving.

It seems that Millie’s previous living situation with another family, filled with dogs and noisy children, was not ideal for her. Jamie believes that Millie is now in a much better place where she can truly be happy.

Described as cute and affectionate, Millie loves to be close to Jamie and her boyfriend. Whether sitting in their laps, on their desks, or cuddled up between their heads, Millie is a constant presence in their lives, even throughout the night.

From the videos and Instagram posts shared by Jamie, it is evident that Millie is content and loved in her forever home. She truly seems to have found her perfect match with them.
